The scholarship program is for girls graduating from Kokomo area schools who participated in the Kokomo Urban Outreach UP Program. It was created to help support them as they further their education in a trade school or 2 yr college programs. We have also extended it to 4yr degree programs and included the military last year as well.

So far, we have given out scholarships to four girls to pursue careers in cosmetology, nursing, teaching, actuary science, and the military.  Scholarships start at $500 as "seed money" to buy tools for work, uniforms, computers, books, or other materials that are required for their chosen training/education. They also have the option to renew their scholarship if they continue to meet the requirements. We have given out over $4,500 worth of scholarships for area girls "raising them up" to further their training and education in the hopes that it will lead to a solid career, a way to provide for themselves and be contributing members of their community. 

We have three girls this year that are studying radiology, elementary education, and another field here at IUK and at the University of Indianapolis that we anticipate providing scholarships to, but we are still waiting for applications to be completed. Stay tuned for the announcement of how many girls receive a scholarship this summer and more details about them and their future plans!
