Music Ministries
Adult Vocal Choir
The First Friends Meeting adult choir is a traditional choir that sings an anthem each Sunday from September thru May, then takes the summer off. Special music is encouraged from whoever would like to “showcase” their talents and share them with the meeting. We practice on Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. This is an all-volunteer choir (meaning NO try-outs), with members of all ages. We do a variety of styles of music and try to focus on “worshipful” music. Anyone who loves to sing is encouraged to join us.
First Friends Ringers
First Friends Bell Choir is an instrumental praise group. We have 4 octaves of handbells and 3 octaves of chimes, and we have been participating in the Kokomo Handbell Festival for the past several years. We practice once a week on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., for one hour. We ring, we laugh, we have fellowship, AND we sometimes even learn something! New members are always encouraged (especially men, to play the large bells), and experience or music knowledge is not necessary.
Kokomo Community Handbells
Kokomo Community Handbells is a joint ministry with First Evangelical Presbyterian Church (First EPC). Its purpose is to introduce people, young and old, to the joy of ringing Handbells. We also have several established ringers that participate with the goal of improving their skills. We have 4 octaves of handbells and 3 octaves of chimes. The choir plays every other month at each of the two sponsoring churches, at local senior living homes and we have been participating in the Kokomo Handbell Festival for the past three years.
We practice once a week on Mondays at 5:30 p.m., for one hour. We ring, we laugh, we have fellowship, AND we sometimes even learn something! New members are always encouraged, and experience or music knowledge is not necessary.
